TOUR NOTES

Early this morning we’ll begin our sail to the largest town on the island of Brac, Supetar. Shortly after breakfast onboard, we’ll commence our ride to what has been described as one of the prettiest villages in Europe. The town of Pucisca lies on the northern side of the island and is home to the only stonemason school in Croatia, thanks to an abundance of unique marble that resembles white limestone. Historically famous buildings have been constructed with stone from Brac, such as Diocletian’s Palace, the White House in Washington and Parliament House in Vienna.
During your stay in Pucisca you can enjoy impressive stone architecture made by local artisans from the village. The island of Brac is also well known for its delicious local cuisine and excellent wine.
Another great day of cycling with some beautiful views of the sea. Distances are short but the climbs are big. The route was lined with fields of olive orchards. It’s Sunday so shops are closed but did get to wander into a beautiful church that had just finished mass.

After lunch we braved a swim in the Adriatic. Too cold for the majority of our group but the five Canadians went in. Still warmer than West Hawk lake in July! The water is so salty it’s pretty easy to float around.
Our guides managed to get the stone mason school to open up for us today. It’s the only school in the country where students learn the trade using traditional tools. Incredible space where they begin to learn the trade at age 15.

What an interesting journey
What a wonderful trip you two are on – love the photos, buildings, cobble roads!
