No agenda, just wander and soak up the beautiful city. Our hotel has turned out to be perfect in all respects. The location, staff and rooms did not disappoint.
We started out by going into the Sao Bento train station. I’ve seen many pictures of it but in person it’s even more inspiring. From here we wandered down towards the Duoro River eventually taking the famous Don Luis bridge across. More wandering, then a long uphill climb to the Taylor Fladgate porto estate. I’ve been known to enjoy their product from time to time.
Taking a tour was well worth it. Interesting history and the tasting at the end a real treat.
Lots more wandering home and here we sit on our hotel rooftop patio with a local red, overlooking the square.
Pretty amazing first day.
