Mont-Laurier to Nominique

Monday, September 8 | 59 km | 161 m elevation

We spent the night in Saint-Jerome after a full day of walking and biking around Montreal. We cycled to the Atwater Market for some sandwich fixing. Dropped them in our car before walking all the way up St Laurent to Mt Royal and Laurier – 7.5 km. No wonder we were tired.

Let the real cycling begin

It was 5 degrees at 7:30 this morning as we boarded the shuttle for the two hour drive up to the trail start.

It was a good day and the sun came out every once in a while. The paths are paved and well marked with signage every km. I was glad we had made sandwiches the night before because we never saw a cafe. It’s pretty rural up here and has a very 70s vibe. Our auberge for the night has been a welcome change after last night Comfort Inn. Our inn keeper/chef Cecile is lovely and creating a three course meal for all the guests. We have already met many of them on the shuttle or on the trail. The guests from Washington DC opened with “let get this out of the way, we are part of the 49.5% percent who did not elect this president.”

Tomorrow, another 60 km to Tremblant.
