Cycling Day 8

Friday March 15 | Ericeira to Sintra | 56km

The fog and clouds created a spooky mood at the top of the big climb

THE BROCHURE DESCRIPTION: As the previous day, today will be quite a hilly ride thanks to the many valleys and rivers of the coast, often forcing you to go up and down to the beaches. Prepare for the steep climb as you exit São Julião and head towards Magoito beach, a long sandy beach below the high cliffs and with a great view over the Roca Cape, the westernmost point of continental Europe.. From here you will head into the historical village of Sintra, that will be the last climbing section of the tour. When you reach the charming village centre of Sintra.

OUR JOURNEY: Up and down again today with lots of rain and wind to add to the challenge. After our last and final climb we encountered the tourist mobs at the National Palace where we navigated the crowds and basically skidded our way down the steep cobblestone road.

Arrival in Sintra came earlier than we expected and after dropping the bikes we headed to our charming guest house for the night
