A Long Day of Travel

Day 1: March 21, 2025
LONG TRAVEL DAY

The day began with a 3 am wake up alarm, coffee, toast and a 3:45 am cab ride. Our cabbie explained he had started his shift at 6 pm and at this time of day things were slow. He however, was not. Going 70 km down Wilkinson and 110 km on the Pat Bay was an experience, especially in the dark and construction areas.

We knew our 42 minute transfer in Vancouver would be tight but we never imagined what unfolded. we were all loaded up, propellers spinning away and then the engines were cut. Seems the alarms went off indicating the luggage load weight distribution was not good. I kid you not, they open up below and proceed to start shifting bags around for a good 15 mins. At least they asked passengers to let us off first for our mad dash to the next gate. Not a great start.

Five hours later we met up with the our Winnipeg friends in Toronto and were lucky enough to be guests of Dr Woo in the Air Canada Lounge. Things started to improve. Another 5 hour flight and gorgeous sunset and we are finally here.

Quick CR beer and it’s bedtime.

I wish our plan showed a flight map.
