Crossing the Mondego River and heading south, you will ride through farming areas along backroads. Right before the only big climb of the day, the route will take you near the abandoned Seiça Monastery. The final stop is São Pedro de Moel, a traditional summer village where your hotel is located. Enjoy here the relaxed atmosphere, the typical architecture of the coastal homes and the public seaside pool of the 1930’s to 1960’s and the beach
OUR VERSION: What was already the longest day of the tour was actually updated to be 82 km but what was not mentioned was the state of 10km of gravel road that was full of potholes. A challenging day indeed where the one steep climb lived up to the description.
Today’s speed range on the final ride stats went from 4.5 kph up to 41.5 so the elevation is a factor.
Tonight’s stop is at Sao Pedro de Moel where the view from our balcony allowed us to keep an eye on the surf break.
