Hot, Hot, Hot! 34.9 degrees hot.
Britain is in the middle of a heat wave and much of the infrastructure isn’t set up for this type of weather. We are very happy that our hotel has AC, but many spots do not. The British Museum was a place we thought would be a good cooling spot, but in fact, it was a giant sauna. It was odd to be wandering antiquities and see they had doors to the outside, wide open.
Our days were mainly wandering with vague destinations. We’d hop on and off the Tube and look for new areas. We’ve been to London many times so we didn’t need to see the top 10 sights. We walked by Tower Bridge and Parliament but didn’t stop as it was crawling with tourists.
New places for us were Canary Wharf and the canals north of Kings Cross. The Tate Modern was great and air conditioned. We also wandered a few markets up at Brick Lane and Spittlefield.
We did return to the British Museum to see the Elgin Marbles, renamed the Parthenon Sculptures, trying to distance themselves from controversy. They go so far as to offer a humorous brochure defending their right to them. I had forgotten how much they have/took.
Shopping, food and drink is not cheap. Prices look the same until you double £’s to $’s to get the conversion.
To finish up, here is a small photo album.

Waterloo Station.

John Lewis and Selfridges department stores.

Canary Wharf.

More “acquisitions” of the British Museum.

Thank you. It’s almost like travelling with you, with only the best of times. Lo Mo
Looks like grand visit time with family and to top it off, London✨
Safe home
Thank you for the mini tour of London. Never been. Have spent little time in the UK except for a short stop in Devon and a visit with friends near Bath many years ago. Would love to see the British Museum and some of the other “top 10”.
Safe travels!
