Today was all walking. Up, down, repeat. 10.9 km to be exact. We covered a lot of ground today, deciding to head out in a new direction. Today’s pictures seem to be mostly about architecture. What struck me was all the streets of derelict buildings. Yet, there was rehab being carried out on every street. In some cases everything was gone but the facade. What I liked was that they kept the charm of the exterior. Most places still had the original doors and shutters along with the ironwork on the terraces.
Along the way we stopped into the fabulous Paróquia de Santo Indefonso church with its tiled exterior. It had some restoration in progress but the 1€ tour ticket wasn’t going to help with all the work needing to be done. It was beautiful but also terrifying with multiple Jesus on the cross displays. They even had a glass coffin with a Jesus statue wrapped in a shroud on display.
The sun was out for most of the day so coffee time was on our rooftop terrace with a huge apple tart.
Also, our $9 bottle of Portuguese red wine has been surprisingly good.
